Karate 1-Premier League Update After Okinawa Event
After a thrilling season of the best Kata and Kumite competition, the Karate 1-Premier League came to a close as the tournament held in Okinawa drew the curtain on the intense and spectacular first-class Karate international event.
The breathtaking Budokan was the stage where the excitement and passion for this ancient discipline was once again demonstrated; Two days of full action in the place where Karate was born that served to crown Japanese Karatekas as a dominating force of the sport since athletes from the host country claimed gold in all but three of the categories of the tournament.
Ryo Kiyuna was proclaimed the big hero of the event following his impressive victory in Kata competition. The defending World champion has wrapped up the year of Karate 1-Premier League with gold medals in the first and last tournaments of the season. Tareg Hamedi of Saudi Arabia with his first triumph in Karate 1-Premier League was another of the top names of the tournament.
After the ten events of the season, four Karate Stars are crowned among the big winners of the first-class international Karate competition as they are the only Karatekas to reach the top of the podium three times this season. Ryutaro Araga of Japan, Giana Lotfy of Egypt, and Spain’s Sandra Sanchez and Damian Quintero round off 2016 Karate 1-Premier League with three gold medals.
